LSD, Lenin, Jesus and the IRA

It's Easter! Which means a lot of things:

LSD was discovered to be lots of fun in 1943 - thus leading to lifetimes of getting stoned and inspired, being a bum or an intellectual, depending on how good a writer you were. People like Aldous Huxley and Timothy Leary got more out of it than most:

"To be shaken out of the ruts of ordinary perception, to be shown for a few timeless hours the outer and inner world, not as they appear to an animal obsessed with survival or to a human being obsessed with words and notions, but as they are apprehended, directly and unconditionally, by Mind at Large— this is an experience of inestimable value to everyone and especially to the intellectual."
Aldous Huxley

Lenin arrived at the Finland Station in Petrograd, kickstarted the Russian Revolution, redefined Communism, and formed the world's first worker's republic, before realising he had fucked up massively as revolutions failed all over Europe. He then proceeded to make the best of a bad situation.
In Ireland in 1916, the IRB (the old, good IRA) prepared to take over selected areas of Dublin. The greatest moment in Irish nationalism amounted to a take-over of a post office and a biscuit factory. It marked the beginning of the end of British rule in Ireland, and makes Ian Paisley very angry.
And lastly, and most importantly, 2006 years ago, Jesus Christ came back from the dead, the only man ever to do so. This had a tremendous effect on world history, though he was never seen again. Christians take over most of the world, being basically good, but bad things still happen. There's not really much disagreeing to be done with what Jesus says, but people still wonder if organised religion is a force for good or not. Most recently, Jesus is used as an excuse for George Bush to act like an asshole.
